I CAN HEAR IT/THE SOUND OF PEACE
I woke up in the morning.
Everything seems to be quiet,
The winds were in death
silence.
The birds never sang songs.
The roaring of the rivers
gone hundred years.
The vegetation stood still
In respect of a passing-by
king.
I can hear it, I can see it
The first to drive through my
mind , was my neighbor's notions.
He's nothing but seems to have been given the good news
that he's been awarded a certificate of
heavenship;
Looking at his smiles of
joy and hopefulness.
I took a deep breath in and
out, and was at no help.
He rushed unto me and
proclaimed to his hiss, It's over.
I can hear it, I can see it
I remembered the time I was
born
When mother was in a deadly pain
Crying from the heart, the
agony of delivery
Alas! A little smile, a
little happiness, popped up
It is over, she seemed to
have lamented
The blessings of joy
theoretically passed through her heart.
I can hear it, I can see it
From a distant hill, a voice
echoed.
Through the deserts into the
forests
The leaves danced, the
grasses saluted themselves in harmony
The birds melodied in
ululations, winging from corner to corner
They seemed to be announcing
good tidings to the human species.
It is over
I can hear it, I can see it
Without hesitation, the
traditional drum was drummed
Men and women, children and
all those living
In an oval line, they stood up
eagerly.
Majestically and spiritedly, he stormed up
In a wonderful pitch,
the king broke loose the attentions of his subjects
Out came the news - it is
over
I can hear it, I can see it.
It's
over with the war
It's
over with corruption
It's
over oppression
It's
over with injustices
It's over with tribalism
It's
over with nepotism
It's
over, I can see it, I can hear.
And the nation lifted up
their voices
In one accord, they sang and
danced.
"We've overcome, we've overcome
We've
overcome today,
By
Faith and Prayer, we have believed,
We
have overcome today"
I
can see it, I can hear it
As I joined in,
I realised that's a dream in reality
I realise that the pains we are going through will one day come to an end
I realise that by Faith and Prayer we shall see real change
I realise that no condition is everlasting
And one day, widows will tap on humble pillows,
The orphans will sing our Father in heaven, hallow be thy name,
Streets would be lit and
celebrate peace.
May this day come true in Jesus Name.
