A LAMENT FOR JUSTICE AND PROTECTION

Your Majesty Today, I take this special opportunity To thank you for the good life you have bestowed upon us. Despite all the odds we have committed against you, You still care for us. Thank you very much.   Abba Father, You know that when you created man, You gave peace, love and hope to him You gave him the right and ownership of the properties You also apportioned him land to live on   Through the Red Sea, the Israelites possessed the lands of Canaan You made them conquer and own the lands as you had promised. Reuben to Benjamin, you gave each a piece of land. Through Secession, the same land you gave to South Sudan, You apportioned it to the sixty-three-plus nations to live on,   Abba, Father With different resources for each nation, you blessed them. Others you gave oil, others you gave water, Others you gave animals and others lands for agriculture, While others doubled their blessings, only known to your sovereignty. ...

INTO THE ROOM OF LOVE, WHERE IT MOURNS.

From the depths of the valley, I travel through voices Hindered by mountain walls, my strides redirect Into the room of love, where it mourns   Does having a father come at a cost?  Is respecting a teacher a loss? Does spoiling the rod bring harm?   No father loves a child to stray A tree's future is shaped by its pruning A child who obeys a father brings joy to their fortune   Never lean on an acid-painted wall No scorpion is trusted when grasped by the head Fathers shape their legacy, not bought by children   As night falls, gaze up at the starry sky Mark the brightest star that is your destiny guide Guided by your father, you find your way Type: Didactic or Wisdom Poem Style: Free Verse Ref: Proverbs 13:24 Poet: Ayella John Bosco, Writer/Critic/Teacher This poem is meant for your children to take responsibility for their actions and develop self-discipline.

WHEN THE PLANTER TENDS HIS GARDEN WELL. Proverbs 3:11-12

Listen to me, my dear son, the firstborn of my seeds, Planted in the wilderness, where trials proceed. Listen to the wisdom of your father, The husband of your joyous mother.                                                                                  There are many seeds planted in a garden, However, not all of them sprout out. Among those that germinate, The calamities of nature choke others. Those that survive, the sun scorches.   Throughout all this, the planter prunes, He watches until the harvest is ready. Listen to me, my son, the counsel of...

A Bee’s Hymn, Romans 8:14-17

Through the forest with lion's might, I stride Like a falling coconut in flight, in the valley I falter A horse's final breath, fear infects my hope Leaving me with mercy, a fragile thread of pain   Can I find wings to flee or an angel's mighty hand? I'm spent, my strength depleted, forsaken in this land Yet, through mountains, a voice echoes, strong and clear A whirlwind's song, a warrior's anthem, bees' hymns drawing near   Like a gong's gentle tone, the voice resonates, "Do not worry" "Forever I will make you known, hold on, I am with you" Like a mother in labour’s pain, my breath held tight I push out fear's paralysis and let hope reign. (Isaiah 41:10)   Like a tongue of a burning furnace, comes the rescue Behind me, he holds my hands, lamenting "I love you" Fears and death, I have consumed eternally A chosen generation thou art, a wire of continuity. (1  Pet. 2:9)   Arise, son...

THE ROLE OF MAGWI COUNTY IN FEEDING JUBA, a Voice forgotten

Photo: Amin Joseph's Timeline, in Lerwa Last Week, I came across Amin Joseph's post about the lush maize fields in my hometown, Lerwa, Obbo Payam. Amin pointed out the need to empower farmers to produce enough food for Juba and their homes, lamenting the government's lack of support for agriculture, which leads to reliance on imports from Uganda and Kenya. Recently, the South Sudan Bureau of Standards confiscated substandard food from these countries, highlighting the urgency of this issue. It is disheartening to see our citizens' health put at risk due to the government's failure to support local food production. The problem of food insecurity in the country is longstanding, and it will not be resolved without addressing the root causes. Magwi County has the potential to feed Juba as a whole, but insecurity, poor roads, lack of skills, and inadequate production systems hinder progress. Despite its fertile soil and favourable topography, the county remains underutil...

I MUST TOUCH SIMPO GLADYS’ BREAST

Monday, 26 th May 2026. The wait is over, the joy and celebrations Echoed through the forests. Garments sewn in different tastes Leopard fashioned and tiger skins,  The oracles of power. Young and old, male and female, Readied to see the most celebrated, Echoed marine queen. No time to pass unused, waste it at your fool. Simpo Glad is in the palace.   Dropped my fishing net Threw the hooks behind the apple trees. Through the caves, I ran to my ornamented elephant skins, Kept securely, to meet my dreamed-of girl, Simpo. That battle was great; I must win.   The music hit high, the ukulele, the lyres, the harps The flutes drove the mysterious blockades, The ululations, the jubilations, Tones heightened beyond the mountains, Dogs, goats, hyenas, and foxes Hid themselves, Traumatised by the hot beats of the drums. I must touch her, yes, Simpo Gladys, the breast, The hot lips, the calabash butts, the flattened womb, The glowing...

VOICE FROM THE GRAVE

Sunday, 25th May 2025.  Voice from the Grave is a poetic commentary on the need for social and environmental justice and the importance of taking action to restore the land and its people. A great town, business-owned, Everyone is alone, Glory is gone. A great town with no dawn, Life is going down, Glory is frowning.   A great town with fond memories, In the pond, Glory's drowning.   Dusk with silence, Dawn with reliance, Morning mourning, Guru's glory groaning.   The cry echoes up the sky, Dismissed, in the grave, The brave are lost, Routing shamba devours decay, Vultures’ cultured, human assay.   Guru's glory groaning, Mother murdered, disabled, Children silenced, girls exploited, Girls subjugated.   Guru's glory groaning, Wake up, oh child, the land needs you, Take up the bows; it is your turn, Astonish them now.   Surround them with a ukulele, Seven times with jubilation, They are ...

THE PAWPAW TREE BEHIND MY HOUSE

Sunday Devotion, 25th May 2025 But the fruit of the Spirit is faithfulness... (Gal 5:22).   I always recall a papaya tree behind my house that thrived for three years, seven years ago, delighting me with its healthy fruits. It would yield three ripe papayas weekly, but its success was short-lived. A hailstorm struck, causing the tree to wither, its fruits to turn yellow, and eventually, it fell due to the harsh weather. The papaya tree lacked the resilience to withstand the storm. Similarly, a believer needs the Holy Spirit's guidance to grow spiritually. The Bible describes the Fruit of the Spirit, which includes faithfulness (Galatians 5:22), as one of the elements for this spiritual growth. Just as the papaya tree required more than its natural strength to survive, we need the Holy Spirit's empowerment to cultivate qualities like faithfulness in our lives. This is possible through faithfulness to God, to oneself, to others, and nature.   Be faithful to God. God is fai...

RESPECT THE ANCESTORS WHO HAVE PAVED THE WAY FOR US.

In Nimule's social gatherings, I have often heard community members discussing "Abi'eBeni", which translates to "Left by the Ancestors". This refers to community resources and valuables like land that have been passed down through generations. However, those speaking out against the issue often find themselves in a paradox - betraying the ancestors they are trying to honour.   Traditionally, Africans believe their existence continues through their ancestors. A family line without a male child was seen as unfortunate due to the lack of continuity. This raises a question: do the people of Nimule truly value their ancestors and the resources they have left behind? It is crucial to reflect on this and understand the significance of our ancestral heritage. Let me remind the community of the saying: "Those who fail to acknowledge their ancestors will be forgotten by their descendants." Although Christianity has influenced African traditions, respecti...

WHY DO THE MADI PEOPLE CONTINUE TO SELL THEIR LIVES AWAY

The Madi of Nimule: A Case at a Glance Three years ago, I wrote on my timeline, "In the next 5 years, the indigenous people of Nimule will be aliens in their homeland." Many locals dismissed my warning, but I didn't mind because the land issues in Nimule are glaringly apparent, with many crying out for salvation. Land Ownership in Africa   Traditionally, Africans owned their land communally, with tribal lines defining boundaries. Land was essential for subsistence farming, housing, and cultural heritage. It was a sacred space where ancestral spirits resided, and communities consulted them. A community's power was directly tied to the vastness of its land.   The Value of Land to an African   An African without land is like a tree without roots. Land is one of the five pillars of human life in Africa, along with the Creator, Nature, Ancestors, and Wife. For an African man, land is paramount because it provides for his basic needs and connects him to his heritage...

THE UNCONTROLLED DESIRES

Text: Genesis 3:1-7, James 4:1-3 THE NATURE OF PERSONAL DESIRES. Today, let us talk about something important for all of us, which is personal desire. We all have desires, and they can be good or bad, depending on what we desire and why.  Personal desires are those things that develop within us, demanding satisfaction. They can be good or bad, depending on their objective and motivation. In the case of Adam and Eve, their desire for knowledge and wisdom led them to disobey God's command. Satan' convinced by lies that God was withholding something good from them. This desire for autonomy and self-determination ultimately led to their downfall, although they had everything. This story shows that desires can be bad when we do not control them. Adam and Eve's desire for power and knowledge led them to sin, and it had big consequences. God sent Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden, consequently resulting in suffering and pain entering the world. THE PROBLEMS WITH UNCONTR...
