Single Mothers, Note This

 A DIVORCED SINGLE MOTHER WROTE
I am writing to you in order to make someone understand that it's good to appreciate our partners despite their flaws.
I am 42 years of age.
My ex-husband and I dated for 9 years.
We were best of friends.
I waited until he completed college and started work.
My family and his family then met.
We got married and had a son. (27 years old now).
My husband was short-tempered at times, but our problems started when I wanted to make him feel he couldn't control me.
Every time we argued, I would pack my bags, go to my family and explain.
My sisters would phone my husband and shout at him.
If he were controlling me, I would always dare him that if he wished, he could divorce me.
I never wanted a divorce.
I just had pride, and I never wanted to look like a loose woman in his eyes.
One day, I pushed him so hard that for the first time, he beat me and locked me outside.
I went to my family, my family took him to the police, and every time I looked like I was being abused!
But to be honest, I used to abuse my husband emotionally.
He was arrested and detained.
I was asked by his family to withdraw the case.
I felt that what I was doing was wrong.
My husband was never a violent man; he did what he did because I pushed him to the wall, and he openly knelt down and apologised.
I withdrew the charge, and we reconciled.
After three months, I packed my bags after a small issue, and I remained alone.
After two days, I
received a call that he was in the hospital.
My family told me that I shouldn't go there because it would look like I was begging him, and my sisters believed he was feigning the illness.
All this time, people felt sorry for me, like I was the one being abused.
He spent a week in the hospital, and after he came out, I just received a divorce summons.
I wanted to say no to divorce, but because I felt this pride, I wanted him to change his mind and beg me.
I called him and said he would get the divorce because I lived like I was in hell.
When we went to court, I wanted to make him pay, so I told the court that I needed his property to be shared.
To my surprise, he openly told the court that whatever he and I acquired together should be given to me; all he wanted was a divorce.
We were divorced in July 2007.
Now, as we speak, my husband is married, whilst l am here wasted!
My family members are gossiping about me.
I depend on what my ex-husband gives to my son for survival.
I know I wasted my
marriage.
I am here telling all wives that they should be careful how they get advice.
Don't be cheated, don't entertain family interference in your marriage, my dear reader.
Even my young sisters are much more respected than me.
Those who encouraged me to get divorced are always teasing and bad-mouthing me.
Please, ladies, be vigilant in your marriage.
Thought it wise to share my story to save your marriage.
There is no benefit in pride for nothing.

Open Letter to the Governor of Eastern Equatoria State

02-08-2026 His Excellency Louis Lobong Lojore Governor, Eastern Equatoria State Subject: Urgent Appeal for the Immediate Removal of Cattle from Magwi County, Particularly the Nimule Area Your Excellency, I write to you as a concerned citizen regarding the continued presence of thousands of cattle in Magwi County, particularly in and around the Nimule area. This situation demands your urgent attention and intervention. In the recent past, government authorities, local leaders, and communities agreed that the presence of cattle in Magwi County is unacceptable. This position is consistent with the Presidential directive ordering all cattle to return to their areas of origin. Despite this clear directive, many cattle keepers, particularly from Bor, continue to disregard the order and have returned with large herds into the county. Today, thousands of cattle are moving freely in the Nimule area and occupying locations less than ten kilometres from Nimule Municipality. We are all aware of t...

UNMASKING THE RED BELT: Community Defense or Security Threats

WHY IS EQUATORIA MENTIONED? September 2, 2025 Many South Sudanese tribes have vigilante groups, particularly in cattle-keeping communities. Based on their mandates, it is clear that each group aims to protect and defend its community from neighbouring raiders. Communities like the Dinka, Nuer, and Murle have such groups, and their long-standing conflicts over resources suggest this is a survival mechanism. From my experience, South Sudan's community insecurity worsened in 2017 when the economy collapsed due to unresolved civil conflicts. Youths formed groups with different names, such as the Toronto, West Coasts, Black Mambas, and Invincible Scorpions, in Juba and other major cities. In Nimule, many of these youths brought ideas from Juba's Sherikat suburb after escaping arrest or internal disputes. Today, gangs are widespread in major towns and cities.   Recently, the Red Belt group emerged in Bor, disrupting a peaceful tournament and attacking the National Security Servic...

DO NOT JOIN STAR INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY MAGWI CAMPUS UNTIL IT FULLY ESTABLISHES ITS OWN STUDY CENTRE

Between 2017 and 2019, I wrote several articles about the fraudulent practices of Kampala University. Those who were its students were aggressively defensive, only to concede later. This happened after the Ministry of Higher Education declared the university illegal. Although the students pursued a legal case against the university, they sadly lost. Education is a right for everyone, but a learning institution should provide quality and legitimate services to the public. In South Sudan, several universities and colleges are operating illegally and exploiting poor students. On 22 June 2026, Star International University (SIU) launched one of its campuses in Magwi Payam, making it the second campus after the Nimule campus, which was established around 2021–2022. Accordingly, this could be the third campus in Eastern Equatoria, including the Torit campus. Such rapid expansion raises serious questions about the credibility of the university. A credible learning institution cannot spread i...
