In March, the state government designated Nimule Town Council as a municipal council. This move sparked mixed reactions among the community; some supported it while others opposed it. As a long-time resident of Nimule, I understand the complexities of this decision.
Building on this development, I'd like to share my perspective on the town's progress. With over twenty years of living in Nimule, I've witnessed many issues that have hindered the town's progress. Previous leaders implemented policies that failed to drive real improvement. They collected taxes, but tangible benefits and developments within the town remained in the grave. I've contributed to the town's development through voluntary clean-ups with some youth groups (ICYA, YPCC) and advocacy efforts, calling for bylaws to protect local businesses and residents from exploitation.
However, with your leadership, Your Worship, Hon. Fuli Caesar, I see a positive change. You've enacted a long-awaited bylaw that will bring relief to local businesspeople who've suffered under the dominance of international traders. These traders overstepped policy boundaries, taking all profits. You've taken a crucial step towards shielding local residents from international competition.
Moving forward, we expect you to implement these protections openly and actively, ensuring the town's continued growth and development. As a community enthusiast, I recognise your efforts and urge you to continue working diligently to make Nimule great. We'll support you as long as you keep local people safe from harm and allow them to thrive.
In conclusion, your leadership and commitment to Nimule's development are truly appreciated. You will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the town and its people. We look forward to seeing the positive changes your administration will bring.
