fear of dying. As a result, everyone is careful about his or her life, striving to preserve it, yet death is inevitable. This unanswered paradox challenges followers of Jesus to live righteously.
Christ suffered greatly
and was not afraid to die. He humbly submitted to the will of the Father to put
us right with God, despite being sinless (3:18). His mission was clear: to
bring us to God, and he went through death to make us alive. Due to this wilful
suffering, God exalted and seated him at His right hand.
In light of Christ's example, Peter encourages believers to arm themselves with the same mind as Christ, who suffered us to put an end to sin. This call to suffer like Christ is rhetorical, urging faithful response. Moving forward, Peter tells believers to sanctify God in their hearts, always be ready to give a defence for why they suffer.
Unfortunately, many believe suffering is a curse. Yet, for followers of Jesus, suffering can take on a different meaning in light of Christ's sacrifice and teachings. For that reason, you need to set a precedent of Christlikeness. Never think you are living in a glorious world; strive like Christ for the heavenly riches and glory.
If you thought of being defenceless about your faith because you are afraid to suffer and die, ask God to help you. Submit to His will like Jesus, and He will uphold you through all. He is therefore for you, only never think you are living in a glorious world
