The Speaker, who happens to be from the religious
House, the Praying Mantis, welcomed everybody to sit where one feels comfortable
and near the hearing. In their absence were the non-invited unit of aggressors,
the lions and their lane officers in power.
It was a well-organised secret meeting called by the
people's defensive powers, the Hares.
Thanks to people, media houses, the Radio Presenters, the family of weaverbirds and the cats who stayed put on this issue
Transformed as a leopard, I was the President in the meeting and asked to explain to the audience what the issues were, and this is what I had to say.
“My dear comrades, compatriots, religious leaders, hon
members from all the different constituencies, beginning from the Mountains of
the Oppressed to the City of the Starved, from the Valleys of the Voiceless to
the Cave of the Marginalised, from the Forest of the Ignorant to the Seas of
the Teared.
I am obliged with wounded hearts shedding tears of
sorrow about our suffering, suffering created by a group of selfish units in
the kingdom.
You all know and are aware that, from the beginning,
we had a very responsive and determined societal reform agenda to move our
independence forward. We explored all mechanisms from inside and outside and
uprooted our former enemies by mastering bullets- the ballots.
Today, comrades, as we gather here under this scorching sun, it's nothing but to bring to light what has been happening in hiding, that is why we have been labelled with poor names like Poverty, Misery, Ignorance, Starvation, Insecurity. You all know and are aware that our men whom we had trusted from the beginning have betrayed your citizenry, and we became sold-outs. While we believed that they too share equality with us and are empowered to protect and safeguard the nation's identity, it's quite dehumanising to be superior to the other."
I am here to remind you of our unity, our identity,
our fraternity for which we had fought and won previous battles”
Liberty for all,
Equality for all,
Service for all
Security for all,
Education for all,
Food for all,
Rule of law for all,
No more dictations,
No more anarchism,
No more chauvinism,
No more capitalism,
Federal democracy up!
I took a very deep breath and continued,
“I had nothing to say because all that I wanted to say
had been voiced. My people and fellow compatriots, should we watch in silence
as we are being finished unabated?
Should we watch our daughters and women raped in shame
by the kingdom's tyrants?
Should we lie in wait for each turn to be eaten up by
these worms?
Should we care about those unable to defend
themselves?
What are your contributions to the society of the weak
species?
How do you want them to flourish again?
Are we not equal by generation, by needs, by
shelter?"
All the people, though tired and thirsty, again soared the sky with marvellous calls that brought down rain for CHANGE. As if that was not enough, I asked the gathering what remains next, what should we do?
In groups of age, set and sex set, everyone came up with a Sixteen Points Communiqué summarised by the lawyers and advocates as below:
1- Never
be hospitable or welcome any lion in your village, meetings or for a visit,
regardless of how much he could use to bribe you and some of the leaders in the
community. If given a chance to get the bribe that is your wealth, get it, eat,
and never let your heart thank him.
2- All
must boycott any meeting or rallies organised by the lion once he forces
himself to get to your village, let him return to his den, thinking.
3- All
the cats must increase their capacities and present in the jungles to expose
the lion's dealings; this will help the kingdom to have a fertile ground for
the rule of law to function.
4- Each
community must employ one beautiful woman who is ready to lure the Lion into
misconduct whenever he gets to a community. This will help use the scene before
the people's court of law on government code of conduct, office management and
related issues
5- All
the middle-aged youths must befriend the entire Lion's security apparatus to
identify who is for reform or an enemy of freedom. This will help the community
to be on the safer side with support from the pro-reform agent, most of the
time.
6- EVERY
middle-aged person should know and identify the apparatus (including the king
itself), strategic strengths and weaknesses, and implore mechanisms to paralyse
them in the court of law
7- ALL
the middle-aged must strengthen their networking system at all levels, starting
from the beard hills, caves, valleys, river banks, water forests and to those
highest mountains in the kingdom
8- ALL
the youths in the kingdom should have necessary contacts with key political
players like the elephant, cheetahs, and leopards who are pro-reform,
regardless of which political agenda and fields one plays in.
9- Whenever
and wherever the Lion tries to come to a city or village, we must plant barricades
of thistle thorns and potholes to bar him from entering the city
10 If
he (Lion) enters, with mass resentment and protests, the elephants, leopards
should confront him, and cheetahs should not watch chicken, mouse dying at
stake during the Christmas and other party gatherings, the tyrants might
organise
11 All
the school-going ages and religious sects must educate or be sensitised on
daily accounts about the dangers of the lions in the kingdom leadership, let
alone in their dens headquarters.
12 All
the community leaders in the kingdom seats must have sleepless nights, inform about
any danger and must have the guts to confront their pretending good boss to
handle any suppression forces.
13 All
people's defensive powers must increase their presence in all the villages to
educate people on their constitutional rights and powers
14 NO
ONE is to take anybody's life. No one should arm anybody, and no one should arm
to arm others; this is a peaceful reform movement policy
15 The
king should not be killed nor any of his family members, but must be brought
down to face justice, and the rule of law takes its course when it succeeds.
16 While carrying out this exercise, everyone should know that the cost of freedom is blood, and therefore, you are either free to shed blood or remain in bondage to the few tyrants protecting your life. Remember, your next generation depends on your struggle for their freedom and development today or never.
When they brought the communiqué to me, I had no more time to comment. I was only to produce more and circulate it to all towns, villages and cities for everyone to get it carefully for reforms.
Today, you too can share the call of freedom on your
wall, on your door post, write them in your palms and your bed sheets to see a
new hope, a hope enshrined in a people-based constitution that caters for every
man and woman's needs in the society, a society of human beings.
Do these as we strategise to bring a total change for our children and grandchildren's
future.
