Beyond the Coffin

As the villagers and Pastor Akera headed to the riverside, about 15 congregants from Akera’s church joined them. Radiating supernatural energy, the group exuded a sense of splendour. The villagers stepped back, overwhelmed by the choir's powerful presence. The choir’s voices blended in glorious hymns, accompanied by cool breezes that drifted like fog. Akera briefed them on the week's events, and the chief and Kenyi joined in, surrounded by an aura of quiet peace.

Suddenly, the atmosphere shifted. With a few villagers, they marched to the riverside, where the villagers first saw the coffin. Upon reaching the bank, the villagers saw the coffin floating on the water, even though they had left it at home waiting for burial, as Pastor Akera had previously commanded. It appeared broken, with a child sitting on it, laughing at them. The villagers struggled to contain their fear while Akera and the choir continued to sing, unaware.

The decisive moment arrived. “Man of God,” called one of the villagers, “there is a coffin floating on the river.” He lamented. Whatever he said sounded like a burst of bombs on the coffin, covering itself in the water. Pastor Akera ordered silence and said, “I want everyone to keep quiet except the choirs, who can continue to sing as we pray and break the strongholds of the devil that are feeding on the people’s blood. We cannot afford to lose lives in the hands of wickedness anymore.”

The battle between Akera and the demon began. The coffin flew from the water and hovered where the people had gathered by the bank, unseen by Akera. The villagers ran in disarray, leaving the choir alone. Watching from afar, the surprised villagers filmed the battle between the pastor and a transfigured demon that resembled Wani, with a tail as long as a 30-meter thread. It kept beating at the air while Akera, energized by the Spirit of God, kept hitting the visible coffin.

The battle raged on, with a mysterious fire engulfing the box and wooden fragments scattering into the air. Others fell beyond the villagers, causing them to run further in fear. Akera was seen chanting and striking through the air, demonstrating the power of his God. As the battle persisted, the demon transformed into a large python but was unable to move, as its stomach appeared heavier than its body.

In a final confrontation, Akera, encouraged by the singing choirs, fiercely fought in the spirit with the demons. Tired of resisting, the demon told the pastor, “Let me go, son of a bitch. Who told you to come and take my kingdom?” Akera replied, “You do not have a kingdom of people; you belong to the abyss, and I order you to return to your suffering and leave the people of God alone.” A mysterious lightning bolt dropped from the sky, hitting the python, which blasted into pieces like thunderbolts. Some choir members fell unconscious due to the blast sounds.

Akera stood firm, holding his Bible and glancing at the disappearing python. “Glory to God,” he kept saying, while the chief and his aide could not hold their emotions afar. Immediately, fire surfaced and burned the surroundings, making the smoke fly high into the sky.

Pastor Akera, relieved from the battle, prayed and consecrated the riverbank, assuring the present villagers to have faith, as their tormentor had perished. Then he told them, “Let us go for the burial.” “How about the coffin box that disappeared?” Kenyi enquired. “The coffin box did not disappear; it was the demon transforming to scare us. The coffin has returned,” Akera encouraged. The villagers joined Akera and the choir at the deceased parents’ village for the burial.
