A Guide to Effective LeadershipHOME BIBLE STUDY.
Devotion Twenty-Seven
Scripture: Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men. Proverbs 22:29
I have never seen an innovator lacking favour and
support from even the poorest. Innovators are always smart and organised
strategically, and they attract attention from the public. This is because
people want to learn new things that they do not know. Innovative strategies
are essential for effective leadership, as they enable leaders to excel in their
plans and development.
In our local church, we had difficulties meeting for Bible studies and prayer devotions as agreed. Time was unfavourable; members cited busy schedules as their excuses and ultimately never turned up for weekly devotion and Bible studies. After thorough research and prayerfulness, we organised home-to-home Bible studies (Bible Meeting Movement, BMM) instead of having the program at the church. Within a month, the number of members attending Bible studies increased gradually because they had no escape as we moved to their homes.
In leadership, it is the leader's responsibility to be innovative to stand out effectively before the church or the people. Leaders should encourage adaptability and openness to new ideas, creativity and risk-taking, and foster innovations within the church or organisations. If leaders are not innovators, they are likely to be condemned by the church or the people they lead; their legacy may fade into obscurity.
As we reflect on the principle of innovative leadership, what areas do you need to improve? What significant lessons can you apply in your leadership? Take charge and be innovative. Do not stick to one approach of leadership because it will make people paralysed and withdraw their enthusiasm from you.
Father God, thank you for reminding me about being innovative to inspire others. Help me to foster creativity and openness to ideas and encourage the culture of adaptability and risk-taking. I believe in your guidance and trust your Word.
Amen.
